Chembox was founded in 1992 by Sjoerd Hofstra, from childhood at home in the port and in logistics. A logical move for him to settle the company into the Waalhaven.
Gradually, the company grew to a specialist one, especially in the handling of chemical products. In 2011 the company was taken over by Pieter Struik, who worked with the founder for a long time. Together with Ronald van Sonsbeek Pieter Struik was the team that was the driving force behind Chembox. Later, on the 1st of December 2017, Kevin Hilberts joined the team. On September 30, 2022 Ronald van Sonsbeek retired from Chembox. From this day on, Pieter and Kevin are the ones running the company together.
